Defensa is partnered with Thales Communications Systems as the Key industrial Partner to deliver to the Qatar Armed Forces the Qatar Es’Hail Communications System (QECN).

QECN is a secure, high data rate cutting edge satellite based communications system for voice and data. At the core of the system is the state of the art monitoring and management system that provides reliable deployment across a range of services.

Defensa are the chosen supplier to Thales in the delivering the Ground Segment, consisting of two Anchor Stations and a range of Fixed, On The Pause and On The Move customized Satellite Ground Terminals.

Defensa is key to the support of the mobile elements of the programmes through the provision of a variety of commercial vehicle platforms and their ongoing local support. Defensa provides procurement, warranty support, import/export expertise in the shipping of military equipment and consultancy to ensure smooth delivery into Qatar.​

Defensa also provides a number of skilled and experienced staff to the programme recruited and provided specifically to deliver the niche skills required for the Operation and Maintenance element of the project delivery.

The successful completion of the Service Transition stage has been built on the strong relationship and support and expertise that Defensa has provided. Moving now into Service Delivery, the relationship between Defensa and Thales Communications and Security continues to be a key element of the overall programme success.
